Summary: | The Red ginger (Zingiber officinale rocs. var rubra) is a plant that
contains volatile oil and oleoresin are useful for digestion. Atsiri oil is also known
to have properties that can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, skin and mucous
membranes. This study aimed to determine the effect of red ginger with a
concentration of 1%, 1.5% and 2% of the histopathologic digestive tract of broiler
chickens in the ileum and coecum.
This study used broiler fourteen days were divided into four treatment
groups, namely group A (without additional of red ginger), group B (with an
additional 1.5% of red ginger), group C (with an additional 1.5% of red ginger)
and group D (with an additional 2% of red ginger). Five week old chickens after
necropsy performed histopathological preparations were then made from the
digestive tract ileum and coecum. The histopathologic digestive of the tract then
analyzed descriptively by comparing the control group to the treatment group.
Histopathological study shown there is no difference between treatment
groups. Ileum and coecum were still in normal range, all treatment groups
demonstrate no any damage no any damage.
To sum up, addition of red ginger with the concentration of 1% up to 2%
do not cause the damage of ileum and caecum
