Summary:Russian Federation is geographically vast, therefore it is necessary for the federation to unite its peoples who are ranging from hundreds of ethnicities with different cultural backgrounds by enforcing Russification policy. The Russification policy is named after the majority of the federation, Rus. The policy is one example of cultural assimilation done by the majority (Rus) to be applied by the minorities (non-Rus). This policy not only controls ethnical identities of the minorities but also religious identities and languages usage, and has been applied there since the age of Russian Empire.
