Summary:The housing is a public policy of Sleman regency government in order to regulate land use efficiently. The aims of this research are (1) to asses the effectiveness of Quickbird satellite imagery to determine the distribution of residential areas, (2) to asses the distribution pattern of residential areas in Kalasan sub-district, and (3) to evaluate the distribution of the residential areas toward functional zoning related with the land use planning. The method of this research conducted by interpretation of the Quickbird image visually to obtain land use data, physic parameter, and socio-economic parameter. Moreover, field survey is a technique of this research to get more data. Furthermore, related of this research, the distribution of the residential area determined by integration between physic and socio-economic parameter through the scoring method. The comparison between the distribution of the residential area and functional zoning of the land-use planning is the evaluation method of this research. The results of this research are (1) the table of effectiveness rate of Quickbird satellite imagery to determine the distribution of residential areas which showed the accuracy rate of 85%, (2) the distribution pattern map of residential areas in Kalasan sub-district which showed the distribution of residential areas is clusters patterned, and (3) the evaluation map of the comparison between residential areas and functional zoning in Kalasan sub-district which showed many as 18 blocks of settlements in accordance with the Kalasan sub-district�s land-use planning.
