Summary: | Background: Diarrhea is still one of the major health problems in the community.
Some people's behavior in the management of diarrhea in children under five in
the household has not shown improvement and has not been in line with
expectations. Increase public knowledge including knowledge of health and
hygiene behaviors proper hand washing, can reduce diarrhea morbidity by 45%.
Objective: To reveal the implementation of IMCI in order households in infants
with diarrhea in the area of the District Health Center Banguntapan Yogyakarta.
Methods: This study used a cross sectional study with a quantitative approach
that was conducted in March-May 2014. Respondents in this study were 32
mothers or primary caregivers with children under five with diarrhea aged 6
months-5 years. The instrument in this study using a questionnaire adapted from
the IMCI Household Survey Questionnaire and IMCI. Data collected by interview
technique. Analysis of the data using frequencies and percentages description
techniques and chi-square test.
Results: Coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in this study gained as much as
15.6% and the provision of complementary feeding as much as 100%. In the case
of complete immunization is only found as many as 68.7% (31.3%) mothers can
not show the KIA book. Behavior waste disposal and washing hands with soap
showed a low rate. For feeding, (46.9%) of respondents only give when the child
asks, and the provision of zinc tablets, (81.3%) respondents gave for 3 days only.
Conclusion: The behavior of parents in providing care to the toddler diarrhea at
home still show a number less on some aspects of behavior.
