This research aims to study the library building energy consumption in energy saving but still gives priority to convenience for its users. This research uses EnergyPlus version 8.1.0.009 for 32-bit to simulate Central Library Gadjah Mada University Building L1 energy consumption. Data required by the simulation are building geometry, weather data and cooling load data. Geometry Data presented in three-dimensional models using Google SketchUp 8 software that includes OpenStudio. Weather data that is utilized in this research is weather data for the Jakarta area. Cooling load data includes demands data of occupants, lighting systems and electric equipment systems. Results of the simulation showed the amount of consumption of Central Library Gadjah Mada University Building L1 is 951.98 GJ per year. The largest energy consumption is on the air system that is 561.43 GJ. Energy consumption of lighting systems is 64.61 GJ and electricity equipment consumption is 325.94 GJ. The value of energy consumption intensity (IKE) of Central Library Gadjah Mada Unversity Building L1 is 49.52 kWh/m2/year. The scenario to reduce building energy consumption in the Central Library Gadjah Mada University Building L1 is by replacing the system of Constant Air Volume (CAV) into a Variable Air Volume (VAV). The savings obtained by 10.05%.
