description In the liquid waste treatment, adsorption process is done by passing a feed solution through adsorbent so that impurities will be adsorbed. The aim of this research is to determine the adsorption ability of activated charcoal made from coconut shell to adsorb strontium-88. The performance of activated charcoal was analyzed through varying the activation temperature and activator concentration. Adsorption process was done using vertical columns with top � down flow. The concentration of NaOH solution was varied by 0.5 N, 1 N and 1.5 N, the activation temperature was varied by 250 oC, 500 oC and 750 oC. The concentration of strontium feed solution from adsorption process was then analyzed using Atomic Adsorption Spestrocopic. The result show that the certain value of activator concentration and activation temperature did not have influence on the activated carbon adsorption ability. The best result shown on the activator concentration of 0.5 N and the activation temperature of 250 oC, giving the adsorption power of 0.246960 mg/g.
