Summary:Background : The consumption of alcohol these days is common, not only for the adult, but also in every class of ages. In general, adolescence has more vulnerable psychological state than other period of ages. Traffic accident is one of a highest factor responsible of the cause of mortality in the world, including Indonesia. Altered mental status, a result of alcohol consumption, is also common as the cause of traffic accident. Objectives : To find out the distribution frequency of alcohol misuse in high school students in the city of Yogyakarta and to find out the correlation between the alcohol misuse and prevalence of motor vehicle accident in high school students in the city of Yogyakarta. Method : The data in this research is taken from the answer of questionnaire by samples. The participating samples are 11th grade students from 5 high schools in the city of Yogyakarta. This research is an analytic observational research with a cross-sectional method. Result: There are 14 students from the total of 126 students from public high schools and 17 students from the total of 35 students in private high schools of Yogyakarta who has consumed alcohol. From the total of those who has consumed, 19 are found to have a history of traffic accident while 12 are found to not have a history of traffic accident. There is no significant correlation between the alcohol misuse and prevalence of motor vehicle accident in high school students. Conclusion : There is no significant correlation in the result of the research, students with a history of alcohol consumption has a 1,22 times higher risk of having motor vehicle accident than those who do not have a history of alcohol consumption
