Objectives of this research were (1) to evaluate effect on economic value from conversion of Singkati Batanghari Enclave forest area and (2) to evaluate impact of environmental damage due to land usage practice in Singkati Batanghari Enclave forest area by people and plantation concession permit holder. It used survey method over various study objects including forest area condition, land usage, damage location and people around Singkati Batanghari Enclave forest region
The research indicated that Singkati Batanghari Enclave Forest area having total economic value per year of IDR 20,109,394,977 consisting of economic value of direct usage of IDR 1,139,540,877, economic value of indirect usage IDR 18,791,763,000, selected economic value IDR 69,228,600 and existence value of IDR 108,862,500. Lost economic value due to land conversion in Singkati Batanghari Enclave forest area was IDR 12,346,382,387 consisting of commercial timber of IDR 910,390,787, carbon absorption value of IDR 11,354,434,000 and biodiversity value of IDR 81,557,660. Forest area converted into oil palm plantation have net present value of IDR 31,877,252,667 and people rubber plantation with net present value of IDR 2,200,6=861,321 for cultivation in 25 years.
Result of the calculation indicated that loss caused by conversion of forest region to oil palm plantation from environmental aspect is greater than financial and social benefit obtained. Land conversion in forest region may be done with condition of existing maximum limit of land usage by financial, environmental and social economic analysis and minimal conserved forest region should be determined.
