| Summary: | This research is motivated by Ria Park beach area which is one of the landmarks
of the city of Palu area required to accommodate the various activities / events therein,
the limited open spaces on the waterfront, and the high activity of the people enjoying
the panoramic beach, impact on space-use conflicts between various interests, the
interests of both social, economic, cultural, and aesthetic areas can not be avoided. It
became the basis of the researcher takes the locus of research in the area of Taman Ria
Beach, by looking at the relationship between physical settings and activities, which will
be able to direct the physical settings and can accommodate the variety of activities in
the area of Taman Ria Beach.
Based on the research questions that examine the characteristics of the activity
and how it relates to the physical setting Palu Ria Park area, then to achieve the
purposes of this study, the research methodology used by the rationalistic approach to
the qualitative paradigm.
Implementation research begins with direct observation by identifying the issues
and facts in the data obtained were then grouped and categorized to be made and
presented in the form of descriptions, tables, images, and maps. Interpreted the data
used to obtain a preliminary picture issues while later concluded that further facilitate
the discussions at a later stage. The discussion is done by linking the findings with the
theories in the field of activity in public open space to be toward a conclusion that
become guidelines Taman Ria Coast region of Palu
