Summary: | This research aims to see adaptation process between different ethnic
culture in the organization and accommodation organization. PT. Tirta
Mulia Abadi Makassar in relation to cultural background difference
between the members of the organization. Process of cultural adaptation
seen from five concepts, namely: prejudice, attitudes and communication
behaviors, forms of conflict, negative and positive culture, while at the level
accomodation organization using three concepts, namely: career, progress
and performance evaluation employees, cultural strengthening program.
The concept in this research base on intercultural communication and
communication organization theory. This research method using descriptive
qualitative approach and using case studies.
Subjects this research is employees in PT. Tirta Mulia Abadi Makassar.
That consists of the president director and some employees who have passed
the stage career in that organization. All the data that is needed collected
from result of observation, an interview, and documents. Results of the study
showed that although outside organizations prejudice negative impacts
which tends to be divergen still remain but in the company culture
adaptation between ethnic Bugis-Makassar and Tionghoa shows the pattern
is likely to be convergence that make members in the organization show
adaptive behaviors. This was also supported by a company also play a part
in a culture adaptive company through accomodation organization as a
strategy of organization communication through programs career,
performance evaluation, and gathering program, designed by the company
and the organization community initiatives to build and strengthen the
emotional relations among the employees.
