| description | Pindul Cave is a natural tourist attraction managed by local community in
Bejiharjo Village, Gunungkidul Regency. Community involvement in this tourism
activity reflects the application of the concept of community-based tourism
(CBT). Therefore, this study was aimed to identify the level of local community
participation in the tourism development of Pindul Cave and the factors
influencing it. By employing qualitative-quantitative approach, this study
collected data from interviews and questionnaire with 60 respondents. The
analysis results showed that the community participation in general is high with
the detail: planning stage (medium), implementation stage (very high), sharing
benefit (high), and evaluation (medium). Such a high level of community
participation was caused primarily by the community�s positive attitude towards
tourism impacts they perceived, minor constraints they faced to participate in, and
the insignificance of impacts of the factors influencing community involvement
(sex, age, education, occupation, and income). This implied a successful CBT
project. |
