Summary: | This study aims to determine the reason farmer choose auction market as
marketing channel and to know the factors that influence behavior of chili farmer
in auction market in Panjatan District, Kulon Progo. The method used in this
study is descriptive with combination approach (mix method) in a sequence in
which the findings of qualitative analysis proved by quantitative analysis with
statistic program of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of study
show that auction market play role in mediating market information and balancing
communication structure between farmers and traders. Through that role farmers
obtain higher selling price of chili and service facility and marketing function.
Strengthening the bargaining position of farmer through auction market is formed
due to common marketing system in auction groups and institutionalization of
auction market. Behavior of chili farmer in auction market is influenced by the
role of auction market manager in marketing function (consist of exchange
function and provision of facilities function) and also supporting role (consist of
the role of auction group leader and instructor). The analysis result of SEM that
show probability value (p) of model is about 0,668 states that model is fit. |
