concern given the very large impact on survival and quality of human resources.
Iodine deficiency is common in pregnant women at risk of abortion, stillbirth,
congenital defects to babies born in the form of neurodevelopmental disorders,
mental and physical called cretin, besides the form of an enlarged thyroid gland
and hypothyroid. All of these disorders can result in low learning achievement of
children of school age, low work productivity in adults as well as the emergence
of various social and economic problems that can hinder development.
Objective:To determine the influence of social determinants on the availability of
quality household salt in Aik Berik and Kuta village in Central Lombok.
Method: This research is an observational cross-sectional design. The study
sample consisted of 432 housewives in Aik Berik and Kuta Village. Independent
variables are age, education, occupation, knowledge, attitude, salt handling
practices, income, gain access to salt, salt availability in the market. The
dependent variable is the availability of iodized salt quality household. Data
analyze using univariate, bivariate and multivariate logistic regression. In this
study, seven stakeholders were interviewed to obtain in-depth qualitative data.
Result: Most salt of the circulated is salt krosok, there is no relation among age,
education, occupation, income, knowledge, and attitudes towards the availability
of quality household salt in Aik Berik and Kuta village. There was a relation
between the availability of salt in the market on the availability of quality
household salt in the village of Aik Berik. There was a relation between salt
handling practices on the availability of quality household salt in Kuta village.
There was a relation among the availability of salt on the market, salt handling
practices and gain access to the availability of salt qualified households in both
Aik Berik and Kuta. There was no local regulations to deal with iodized salt, there
is no allocation of funds to deal with iodized salt, and the availability of iodized
salt was still low.
Conclusion: Salt distribution in the community still does not qualify standards. It
is need to control the distribution of iodized salt to increase health with education
regulation of the production of iodized salt so that it will achieve qualified iodized
salt.
