Summary:Background: The nutrition department in providing food in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Jogjakarta requires a lot of resources. This department often cooks food excessively and cost a lot of money. Objective: This research is aimed at comparing between self administered food provision and the outsourcing services in the nutrition department. Method: This research is a descriptive research with case study design. Location of the research in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Jogjakarta. The costs and quality of food analysis was conducted to evaluate decision making of self administered or outsourcing services in the nutrition department. Results: The price offered by outsourcing services is IDR 20,000 per portion, much cheaper than cost of self administered food, IDR 52,155 per portion. However there are cost that must be considered costs as unavoided. The full cost of outsourcing services is IDR 43,404 per portion. This amount cheaper than costs of self administered food, IDR 52,155 per portion. According to the in-depth interviews conducted in this research, the quality of self administered food is much better than outsourcing services. Conclusions: Food provision delivered by outsourcing services is more efficient compared to self administered by nutrition department. However, the food quality by outsourcing services will be better with nutritionist supervision. Keywords: food provision, nutrition department, outsourcing services, cost analysis, quality analysis
