description Due to the prediction of the capacity of Piyungan landfill waste that reaches 200-300 tons per day and remains less than 10 years for operational life, a seriously effort is taken to reduce the volume from source. Therefore, the existence of environmentally green waste becomes a strategic priority for the DIY Government. The concerns are particularly to reduce waste generation which is directly brought to the landfill Piyungan and to realize the waste management in Yogyakarta urban region. This study aims to (1) Understand the condition of the existing waste infrastructure in Yogyakarta urban region, (2) Map the spatial distribution of the existing waste infrastructure in Yogyakarta urban region, (3) Evaluate to the strategy of providing waste infrastructure in Yogyakarta urban region, and (4) Determine factors that may affect the solid waste infrastructure. The study uses evaluation methods with a thorough rational comprehensive approach. Based on the results, there are 232 units of solid waste infrastructure in Yogyakarta which divided into 2 authorities namely provincial and city. The provincial covers 17 units, while the city has 143 units, 15 containers, 3 LDUS, and 18 DEPO units. Furthermore, result shows that the waste infrastructure has not been evenly distributed across all regions in Yogyakarta urban region. This is due to the fact that the placement is still largely centralized in the city of Yogyakarta which serves some public activities such as markets, terminals, tourist attractions, and housings. It is stated in RPJMD 201-2017 that the provision of waste infrastructure is planned with in an initial target achievement of 45 % by 2012. The study finds that solid waste infrastructure for environmentally green waste only reaches 20 units or 8.6%. This means that this result is still far below the initial target of 45 %. The factors that affect are: (a) the absence of supply and demand in the provision of waste infrastructure, (b) a big gap between the initial design of solid waste infrastructure conventional method and the mandate of RPJMD waste management. (3) the limitation of the land availability in urban areas for waste management development based environmentally green waste which needs reducing and sorting household waste and requires a long process of social and cultural well waste disposal, (4) low attention from people outside Yogyakarta city on waste infrastructure.
