Summary: | The death of a patient in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) can be predicted
with some variables contained in the PRISM III score and albumin levels. Examination of
these variables different on several intensive care units. It depends on human resources and
existing facilities . Needs to be investigated further significant variables in predicting
mortality of patients treated in PICU.
We conducted a prospective cohort study in 90 subjects at the Pediatric Intensive Care
Unit of RSUP Dr. Sardjito. We perform analysis of prognostic factors and analyze its
relationship with mortality using Cox regression analysis .
We get results predictors of mortality are tachycardia with a HR was 5.231 ( 95 % CI
1.39 to 19.63 ), hypokalemia with HR 5.134 ( 95 % CI 1.55 to 16.47 ), thrombocytopenia
with HR 4.208 ( 95 % CI 1 , 10 to 16.07 ), thrombocytosis with HR 7.042 ( 95 % CI 1.79 to
27.63 ) and PPT were elongated with HR 9.961 ( 95 % CI 1.66 to 59.89 ) .
The conclusions of this study are significant predictors of mortality factors such as
tachycardia, hypokalemia, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytosis and elongation of PPT,
whereas albumin level was not a predictor of mortality .
