description ABSTRAK Risk factors in prenatal, natal, perinatal and postnatal periods cartGausfe' abnormality in growth and development process of children under five years old. One of the risk factor is neonatal hyperbilirubinemia because of its toxic-ity to central nervous system of the brain. This study was aimed to identify the influence of the neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in full term infants to development of child aged 3-5 years old. The study design was cohort retrospective. Data were collected from medical records at Dr. Sardjito Hospital in Yogyakarta from August 1,1999 to July 31, 2001. Subjects who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criterias were divided into two groups, hyperbilirubinemia group and nonhyperbilirubinemia group. The outcome was the development of the children at age of 3-5 years old using the Denver Developmental Screening Test II / DDSTII (normal or suspect). There were 120 subjects who were divided into 2 groups, each of them had 60 subjects and every subject was tested by DDST II. The result of DDST II was normal or suspect delayed development. By using bivariat analysis with X2, there was no significant statistical difference in suspect delayed development between hyperbilirubinemia children and nonhyperbilirubinemia children (p=0,09, RR=4,46, CI95% : 0,91-21,97). Logistic analysis regression to outside variabels showed that there was no factor influenced the suspect delayed development of children at 3-5 years old. The conclusion was there was no influence of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in full term infants to children development at 3-5 years old. Keywords: neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, full term infants, children development, children aged 3-5 years old, DDST II.
