Panonychus citri was an important citrus pest in Indonesia. The damage caused by this mite had limited the citrus production quantitatively and qualitatively.
The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of limonene on the growth and development of P. citri. The experiment was conducted at the laboratory in IP2TP Tlekung Malang. The experiment was conducted from October 1999 to March 2000, consisted of 9 treatments and 20 replications arranged in complete random design. The treatments were concentrations of limonene.
The result showed that limonene could inhibit P. citri growth, reduced reproductive potential, and caused death. The inhibited growth was showed by longer young-instar age (12,13 days) and shorter adult age (10,94 days). The reduction of reproduction potential was showed on the percentage of egg hatching (69 %) and adult emergence (26 %). On contact treatment, limonene caused death to P. citri individual.
