Credit is the important component in agricultural development. More farmer now having an off-farm activity to get their welfare.The aim of this study were to identify the farmer's credit, to find the role of the off-farm income and to find factors affect the demand for both formal and informal credit. A hundred and fifty samples were drawn from study area. The respondents were those who took the formal credit (from BRI-UD and Village Cooperative Unit/KUT), informal credit ( from the individual money lender, groups of borrowing and lending, relatives, etc) and were those who did not take the credit. Analysis of variance and regression methods are used in the analysis.
The study found that the highest amount of the credit were from formal credit (BRI-UD) and groups. Most of the farmers used the formal credit for education and the off-farm activities. The farmers used the informal credit for consumption .There were the different of the farmer's attitude from the different groups of borrower except farmer's attitude for the moneylender.
The decision to borrow from the formal credit was affected by farm's income farmer's attitude, land, number of family and expenditure. The higher farm's income were farmer's attitude, the land and the lower decision to borrow the formal credit. The higher number of family and expenditure the higher the decision to borrow the formal credit. The amount of credit was affected by the off-farm activities and the number of family. The higher number of family was the lower amount of formal credit. The famer who had the off-farm employment had the higher amount of credit.
