Summary: | ABSTRACT:
A study about the correlation between the budform and flowerform of Dendrobium hybrids was carried out when an orchid exhibition was held by the Indonesian Orchid Society at Yogyakarta on December 6,1991.
Observations were made on the buds and flowers of fifteen new Dendrobium hybrids, by measuring the front and the sidewidth of the buds and the width/length ratio of the petals of the flowers. It was accepted that the width/length ratio of the petals represent the flowerform.
The result based on multiple regression showed that a correlation between the budform and the flowerform was found. Observations on the buds, six days prior to anthesis, a positive correlation was found. The analysis showed that the form of the flowers could not be predicted six days before anthesis, but could be predicted two days before anthesis.
Keywords : Dendrobium, budform, flowerform.
