Description
Summary:ABSTRAK A field experiment was conducted to identify the intercropping system between cabbage - tomato on its yield and the occurrence of P. xylostella L. attack on cabbage plant. This experiment was conducted from July to December 1998 in Agricultural Training, research and Development, Experimental Station, Gadjah Mada University, at Kalitirto, Berbah Sleman, Yogyakarta province. This research employed Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications and the data was analyzed with Combined Analysis. The experiment consisted of two units, namely, 1) unit I, all treatment were sprayed with biopesticide except tomato monoculture to control P. xylostella L. population and 2) unit II, all treatment were not sprayed. Each unit experiment consisted of six levels, such as, AO (Cabbage monoculture, 100% C: 0% T), Al (one cabbage row : one tomato row, 50% C : 50% T), A2 (one cabbage row : two tomato rows, 33,33% C : 66,67% T), A3 (two cabbage rows : one tomato row, 66,67 % C : 33,33% T), A4 (two cabbage rows : two tomato rows, 50% C : 50% T) and A5 (monoculture tomato, 0% C : 100% T). The results showed that A0 in the first and second'experiment had the highest head fresh weight per hectare than tfie other treatments and A5 had the highest tomato fruit weight per hectare. Intercropping in unit I give relative yield total (RYT) more than one in Al, A2 and A4 treatments, however, in unit II this figure was on A2 treatment. A2 treatment could control the population of P. xylostella L. larvae and decrease the cabbage leaf damage. Unit I different from unit II on head fresh weight per hectare, population of P. xylostella L. larvae and leaf cabbage damage. Keywords: cropping pattern biopesticide P. xylostella L.
