An experiment was conducted to determine the influence mineral mix level contained on urea-molasses blocks (UMB) on the semen quality of Madura bulls.
UMB containing three levels of mineral mix (2 percent or UMB1, 6 percent or UMB2 and 10 percent or UMB3) were added as supplements to the basal diet of Elephant grass for twenty young Madura bulls in a three-month feeding trial. Using a randomized complete blocks design, the bulls were divided into 5 groups and assigned to 5 treatments as follows: supplementary concentrates were given at the rate of 1 percent of body weight (PO), concentrates 0,5 percent of body weight + UMB1 (P1), UMB1 (P2), UMB2 (P3) and UMB3 (P4). Concentrates were given before grass feeding.
Dry matter intake of P1 (3.662 kh/head/day) was higher (p 0,05) than P3 (3.184 kg/head/day) and P4 (3.225 kg/head/day). There were no significant difference among the treatments on semen quality.
From these results, it can be concluded that mineral level UMB did not increase on semen quality.
