| description | The degradation of air quality caused by vehicle's gas emission has negative impact on urban vegetation as tree shelter. On the other hand tree shelters has a role to absorb the gas emission and other air pollutant, and those pollutants do not affect the plant physiological process. The objective of this research were to identify the resintant of tree shelter to the pollutant SO2 and NO2 from vehicle.
Survey method was employed in this study and the research was conducted on a part of Solo street and Komplek Kolombo street in Yogyakarta. Object of this research is Tanjung tree (Mimusop elengi L) as tree shelter wich are affected by SO2 dan NO2 gas emission from vehicle in dry season.
Result of this research showed that SO2 and NO2 gas emission in jalan Solo is higher than jalan Komplek Kolombo, which impacted negatively on chlorophyl a and b content, photosynthesis rate, dry weight and width of Tanjung leaf tree. It may concluded that Tanjung tree is not resistance to pollution of SO2 dart NO2 from vehicle in dry season.
