The objectives of study was to determine the effect of green tea extract on inhibition of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) infection. CMV infection test were realized on test pant Chenopodium amaranticolor. The research had been conducted in Yogyakarta during August 1999 to May 2000. The results showed that inhibition of CMV infection was higher when the test plant was treated by green tea extract, with inoculum of 1 : 1 (v/v) than 1 :2 (v/v). The more concentration of green tea extract caused more inhibition on CMV infection. Pre virus inoculation treatment was better than post virus inoculation treatment on inhibition of CMV infection. Effectiveness of the antiviral was retained up to 6 days after treatment.
