description Activation of the clay had been performed in order to be used as a catalyst for polimerization of polypropylene. The clay was taken from Kasongan, Godean, Bayat (Central Java) and Bayah (West Java). Sample was cleaned and activated with hydrogen fluoride, then its crystallinity, pore size distribution, surfacearea and activity were determined by gas adsorption method. Characterization shows that the sample from Bayah has the highest precentage of crystality and surface area, while the sample from Godean has the highest acidity. Propylene was made of the cracking of cumene, were polymerized in the reactor using nitrogen gas as carrier gas with the flow rate of 2 ml per second at 550°C. The product obtained was cooled in liquid nitrogen and then determined by gas chromatograph and Mass Spectrometry. Cromosorb P was used as the column, while the flow rate of nitrogen as carrier gas was 15 ml per minute at 180°C. The percentage yield of polymer obtained by using catalyst from Kasongan, Bayat, Bayah and Godean were as follows: 80.498%
