| Summary: | Early pregnancy testing in cows is still limited to a laboratory based radio immuno assay (RIA) or enzyme immuno assay (EIA) and field testing using the rectal abdominal palpation method. Progesterone paperstrip test is a new method based upon the measurement of hormone levels in plasma and milk during early pregnancy using plastic fiber (Whatman) as a paperstrip. Early pregnancy test in cows using progesterone paperstrip has been done to 30 cows from KUD Dairy Cows in Trenggalek, East Java. The sera and milk samples were collected 21 days after mating. The color change of the paperstrip can easily be seen by eyeball visualization. The results of the examination indicated that 56.6 % for pregnant cows as positive diagnosis and 100 % as negative diagnosis. Utilization of progesterone paperstrip has a positive value for the farmers because it is fast and simple for field pregnancy testing.
