Summary: | Abstract
The experiments was conducted to assess rate of passage in digestive tract of gliricidia(G), calliandra(C) and corn straw(CST) fts a single feed of Ongole crossbred cattle(OCC) and Buffalo(B). The experiments used three females OCC which had initial weight of 190 ± 10 kg and three females B which had initial weight of 220 + 10 kg and aged 2-2.5 years, applied in 3 periods for each feed. Rate of passage variables were total mean retention time (TMRT), transit in compartment 1/rumen (TK1), transit in compartment 2/ caecum- proximal colon (TK2), marker appears for first time in faeces (TT), fractional passage rate in the rumen (Kp) and persentage TK1/TMRT. The rate of passage of Cr-NDF labelled was measured simultaneously. TMRT in digestive tract were calculated from quantities of Cr-NDF excreted at each interval collection and Cr-NDF in faeces was analyzed with Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometer (AAS). Data obtained were analyzed with factorial experiment of complete randomized block design, followed by Duncan's test when significant effect were observed. The result particle transit showed that TMRT CST (63.58 h) was shorter (P...
