Summary: | The SCS - Curve Number model was one of the model for estimating runoff from small ungauged watersheds, was developed by the Soil Conservation Service (SCS). The hypothesis of this model was twofold: (1) runoff starts after an initial abstraction (la) had been satisfied. This abstraction consisted principally of interception, infiltration and surface storage. (2) The ratio of actual retention (F) of rainfall to the potential maximum retention (S) was equal to the ratio of direct runoff (Q) to rainfall (P) minus initial abstraction (la).
The objective of this research was to apply the SCS - Curve Number model for estimating surface runoff. This study was conducted at six sub watersheds located in Upper Bengawan Solo watershed area, Central Java. Input data were the daily automatic rainfall records, daily automatic water level records, land use and the minimum rate of infiltration was taken from 1994 to 2000.
The results of this research shown that coefficient of correlation (CR) at Padas, Tapan, Ngunut I, Ngunut II, Wuryantoro and Temon respectively: 0,9828
