Description
Summary:The present Indonesia's economic condition is suffering from the attact of monetary crises of which the impact also affects the condition of its financial capability to drop down dramatically. This has made the government tend to reduce programs for new road development and maintain the existence and the functioning of the operative transportation infrastructures. One of the alternatives to carry out that policy is by adopting the slurry seal application for road maintenance, especially to lengthen/improve road service age. Primary research has been conducted in the laboratory to find out the effect of lime and cement filler content on setting time of slurry seal. The parameters used in this research are water content (10%), cement filler content (0% - 5%), lime filler content (0% - 5%), and emulsion asphalt content (CSS- 1 s type) in mixture (12%, 14%, and 16%). A setting time test has been carried out by observing the change of color on the spreaded slurry seal mixture of 30cm x 30cm x 1 cm. The findings of this research which is conducted on a mixture of slurry seal and cement & lime filler show that the bigger the cement filler content and the emulsion asphalt content, the more quickly the setting condition is achieved: here, the smallest setting time occurs in the mixture of 5% cement filler content with 16% emulsion asphalt content, that is 102 minutes. The bigger the lime content and emulsion asphalt content, the more slowly the setting condition is achieved: -here the smallest setting time is achieved in the mixture of 1% lime content with 12% emulsion asphalt content, that is 123 minutes. Meanwhile, the biggest setting time is in 5% lime content with 16% emulsion asphalt content, that is 155 minutes.
