Summary:A survey to assess the prevalence of anemia among 905 personnel of Denpasar Central Hospital has been conducted. Hemoglobin was measured from venous blood sample with cyanmethemoglobin technique. WHO criteria of anemia, namely Hb. < 13 g% for men and Hb. < 12 g% for women was used. The prevalence rate of anemia among the personnel was found to be 14.5% with prevalence rate among female personnel of 18.9% and male personnel of 8.1%. The highest prevalence rate was found in 20 - 39 years age group in female and in 30 - 49 years age group in male. Compared with the prevalence rate of anemia in developing world and that among the other workers in Indonesia, the prevalence rate of anemia among personnel of Denpasar Central Hospital was lower.
