Summary: | ABSTRACT
Dense Graded Emulsion Mix (DGEM) as a surface course construction material has a structural value of a mixture of closed gradation aggregate with emulsion asphalt through a cold mixing process. It is required that DGEM must be a water-resistant material in order to yield high-level mixture durability. During the mixture storage time, the cohesion between the aggregate and asphalt occurs due to setting and chemical processes, then it is followed by water vaporization and asphalt hardening.
The research is carried out by developing a model for DGEM test sample with varying storage time between null day to five days. For each model is applied a compaction test for total void analysis and permeability test using permeability standard test instrument of AF-I6 to examine the coefficient permeability analysis:
The results show that the longer the storage time, the higher the permeability coefficient value will be. Moreover a strong influence of DGEM storage time on the permeability level of compact DGEM in the field is indicated from this research. |
