Summary:Malaria falciparum parasites have been resistant to chloroquine due to long and improper use. The alternative drugs are more toxic and currently not available in the market. Extract of Pule (Alstonia scholaris) bad( exhibited inhibition effect bn growth of Plasmodium falciparum from trophozoite to schizont stage and vice-versa. The use of Pule in combination with chloroquine produced potentiation in growth inhibition effect_ to chloroquine for both sensitive and resistant strains of P. falciparum.
