Summary: | Process choice is an imporant element in the operation strategy and in achieving focus. Process choice can be seen aq a reference point to ensure consistency in operation decisions. It starts with a decision on key competitive priorities and then moves forward toward a production system.
How process choice links with design decision about capital and human resources is examined by this study. This study uses factors analysis to create several constructs, test the questionnaire validity, and report the Cronbach' alphas as the result of its reliability. The main tests are -t-tests of differences between the two types of plants which is to analyze different hypotheses.
Test based on a process choice are performed on 72 (seventy-two) plants among 21 (twenty-one) industry types to analyse shether the design decisions of a product-focused plant and a process-focused plants for these decisions are as follows: capital intensity, automation, flexible automation, preventive maintenance, job enlargement, job enrichment and training.
