Summary: | ABSTRACT
The mosquitoes are commonly found in non-filariasis endemic areas like Yogyakarta City and also in filariasis endemic areas such as Semarang City. Objectives of the study are to elucidate some biological aspects, especially regarding the life table of immature stages (expectation of life and rates of developmental) and fecundity (gonotrophic cycle, eggs laid per female per oviposition and hatching rates of eggs) of Culex quinquefasciatus from Yogyakarta and Semarang City.
The study was originated from collecting Cx. quinquefasciatus females in Yogyakarta and Semarang, which were then identified and colonized under laboratory conditions. Data regarding the life table and fecundity between the mosquitoes of the two cities were tabulated and analysed by t-Test independent samples with degree of confidence 95%.
Results of this study showed that the life table (expectation of life and rates of developmental) of Cx. quinquefasciatus immature stages in Yogyakarta were not significantly different from that in Semarang. Fecundity, especially eggs laid per female per oviposition of Cx. quinquefasciatus in Yogyakarta (Fl = 120,0
