Description
Summary:ABSTRAK Generally particulate in the water is classification in 3 groups, that are coarse, suspended and dissolved particulate. The other classified are suspended particulate, colloidal particulate and atom or molecule. Sedimentation is a solid-liquid separation utilizing gravitational settling to remove suspended solids. The percentage of particulate removal is determinate by overflow rate, detention time, horizontal velocity, dimension of settling basin and the characteristics of raw water. Overflow rate determines the overall removal for a given design settling velocity. The efficiency of suspended particulate removal of the settling basin showed by j(Ct-Co)/Ctix100% influenced by the overflow rate. For the discharge more than 31.5,105 m3/sec. is not recommended, because it gives less than 60% of the efficiency of suspended particulate removal. The maximum non scoure velocity in the settling basin is 0.020 nz/dt. Keywords: sedimentation, Pengendapan partikel
