The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of TiO2 addition and compacting pressure on the physical and mechanical properties of Al/TiO2 composites. The materials used in this research were Aluminum (fine powder) as the matrix and .TiO2 powder as the reinforcement. The content of reinforcement are 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8% weight of Ti02. Green body was produced with two compacting pressures, i.e 400 and 500 MPa. The green bodies were then sintered at 550 for 5 hour. Optical and SEM were used to observe the microstructures. Mechanical properties of the specimens include Brinell hardness and modulus of rupture by four point bending. The results of the research show that Brinell hardness number, modulus of rupture and density of composites increase with increasing compacting relative to the pressure. Modulus of rupture, hardness and density are 42,02 kghnnz2, 32,27 BHN and 2,6 gr/cm3, respectively with compacting pressure of 500 MPa. The optimum properties are achieved on the composites containing of 4% weight of Ti02, in which modulus of rupture, hardness and density are 81,67 kg/nun2, 42 BHN and 2,56 gr/cm3, respectively with compacting pressure of 500 MPa.
