There is a large deposit of rock asphalt in Buton island, but it has not been well exploited.Efforts should be made to have a solvent extraction, and from this process pure bitumen will be found. There after the bitumen can be employed as a binder of asphalt concrete mixture.
From the test indicates that the use of bitumen extract as a binder of asphalt concrete mixture has given satisfactory results. The mixture with 4,5 - 5% binder contents, gives a high stability and Marshall quotient.
