description Twenty four kind of identified feedstuffs were given to animal by women farmers group namely "Lestari", in Kwarasan, Kedung Keris, Nglipar, Gunung Kidul. The feedstuffs were divided into 4 groups namely: grasses, legume, agricultural by products and others forages. The feed samples were ground through 2 mm screen, and analysed for proximate components (AOAC, 1975) as well as in vitro gas production (Close and Menke, 1986). Data of the proximate analyses were calculated for TDN and in vitro gas production were calculated for ME (PEG and Non PEG treatments). Average ME from proximate analyses (Mcal/kg) of grasses, legume, agricultural by products and others forages respectively were 2.05±0.12,2.63±0.48, 2.1610.26, and 2.08±0.22. Average ME from gas production (Non PEG) for grasses respectively, legume, agricultural by products and others forages respectively were 2.5611.37, 3.4011.46, 2.712.64 , and 5.26+2.40, and the ME value by PEG were 2.93+2.07,3.4911.16,3.38+2.72, and 5.56+2.49, respectively. The statistical analysed showed that relationship between ME value from proximate and ME value from gas production were not significant.
