Summary: | ABSTRACT
Queues of vehicles are formed at place where demand approach exceeds capacity. The cause of a queue formation may be either due to a temporary increase in demand or a transitory decrease in capacity. Reasons for a temporary capacity reduction may be due to accidents or other unforeseen incidents that blocked off the highway. The capacity of highway is the maximum flow on the curve correlation between flow and density or speed and flow, for this analysis used three models Greenshields, Greenberg and Underwood.
The correlation model between flow and density or speed and flow for Jakarta - Cikampek Tollway is based on the data collection of traffic flow and speed for 5 minutes and 15 minutes interval. The traffic flow is categorized into four types which are light vehicle, medium heavy vehicle, large bus, and large truck or truck combination, and then converted to passenger car unit.
The results show that the maximum flow ( capacity ) varying from 3734 pcuph to 6903 pcuph, with the average value of 4797 pcuph. In this analysis capacity of 4600 pcuph was used for two lane one direction is assumed, so if the highway blocked off at one lane, the capacity 2300 pcuph per lane. Other results of the study that time duration of queue, number of vehicles queue, queue length, individual time delay and total time delay increase rapidly if the freeway blocked off 1,5 meters wide or more for along 30 minutes or more and the blocked off grather than 2,5 meters wide for along 15 minutes or more.
