description Waterhammer phenomenon, single - phase as well as two - phase flow through pipes, valves, pump instalations, and other instruments are not expected, because it can destroy the system. The magnitude of waterhammer pressure rise effect motivates the author to study effect of void fraction on the Waterhammer pressure rise. The materials used in the research are liquids whose kinematic viscosities are 1) = 0,8342 cSt, U = 2,2522 cSt, U = 2,6346 cSt, U = 2,9027 cSt, U = 3,2802 cSt and air from a compressor. The instruments used in the research are a PVC pipe of 19 mm (3/4 inch) diameter, flexiglass of 19 mm (3/4 inch) diameter, a membrane, strain gage, strain amplifier, analog to digital converter, solenoid valve, which are assembled to waterhammer apparatus. The result of the research is that void fraction can effect waterhammer pressure rise. Keywords : Waterhammer, two phase-flow, valve
