| Summary: | ABSTRACT
Monsoon forest as one of the vegetation type at Baluran National Park plays an important role on the existing wildlife. The objective of this research is to study some ecological characteristics of the monsoon forest, i.e. vegetation composition and classification of plant community.
By using 10 releves of 60 hectares with different plant species composition which dispersed on all of the monsoon forest areas, the research was conducted on 20 observation points in each releve. Based on data of important value of each plant species, plant community pattern of seedling, sapling and tree can be described. Classification method of the plant community pattern to be used was cluster analysis.
Results showed that plant community of seedling stage can be classified into two communities based on community coefficient of 41 percent. The sapling and tree stages were divided into three distinct communities based on community coefficient of 45 percent. It can be interpreted that community patterns of the different growth stage are not similar.
