The effect of pyrantel pamoate on the weight, red blood cell count, and hemoglobin concentration of sheep were investigated. Twenty one of sheep suffered from Strongyle infection were divided randomly into three groups which consist of seven animals. The experimental animal belongs to group I, II and group III were treated orally twice with pyrantel pamoate 10 mg/kg bw., 20mg/kg bw. and 30 mg/kg bw. at the interval of fifteen days, -respectively.
Body weight, red blood cell and hemoglobin centration were recorded on one day before, and 10, 20, 30 and 40 days after treatment.
The results indicated that pyrantel pamoate was effective for Strongyle infection on sheep, increased body weight significantly, but increased red blood cell count and hemoglobin concentration not significantly.
