This study was can-led out to investigate the effect of artificial inoculation of local isolate Leptospira interrogans suspected of tarassovu on antibody titer of local guinea pigs.The first experiment, 5 guinea pigs as controls and 20 treated groups were used throughout the study. Inoculation was performed subcutaneously with either 1 ml of 8-day-old culture, treated groups or sterile Ellinghousen-Mc-Cullough-Johnson-Harris (EMJH) medium as control. Antibody titer of animals were determined 3, 7, 14, and 21 days after inoculation.
The second experiment used 12 guinea pigs, equally alocated into 2 groups. The first group received in
_ oculation of 1 ml culture of laboratory strain of tarassovi and the other received n1 ml culture of the local isolate. This study was aimed to see the differences in serological responses between the two strains of Leptospira.
Positive results of microscopic agglutination test are detected on the 5th day post inoculation, and the titers are higher on the 7th day post inoculation (400 in 10% and 1600 in 90%) |
