Summary: | ABSTRAk
The accuracy transrectal B -mode for the assessment of the ovarian structures in 12 Holstein cows was examined by comparing the results of in vivo transrectal diagnostic ultrasonography of the ovaries and in vivo slicing of the respective ovaries after slaughter. The results of the two types of determination of the ovaries were highly correlated. The correlation coefficient of the diameter of the largest and second largest follicles using the two techniques was 0.94 and 0.91, respectively. The correlation coefficients for the number of small, mediUm and large follicles were between 0.81 and 0.99, while that of the -size of the corpus luteum was 0.70. In conclusion, this study shows that transrectal real-time, B-mode ultrasonography is a highly accurate technique for identifying and measuring the ovarian the structures.
