description Indonesia is a country with the third biggest number of tuberculosis cases in the world after China and India. In Indonesia, the disease has been treated but recently was reported that the rate of tuberculosis cases increased along with the increase of resistance cases of OAT. The main cause of resistance is non-compliance of patients toward treatment. The cause of non-compliance, among others, are lack of knowledge, KIE, motivation, socio-economics, stigma and less family support for treatment and poverty. This study was aimed to find out the differences of treatment compliance between male and female patients and factors affecting treatment compliance, especially caused by issues and gender discrimination in families. The study was located in Purworejo regency. It was a cross-sectional study. The subjects were all patients who were 2-5 months late for treatment during the study. The samples were 87 patients (total sampling). The chi-square analysis was applied to measure the compliance difference between male and female patients. Meanwhile Mantel-Haenzel stratification analysis was applied to find out the relationship between independent and dependent variables with 5% significance level. The results showed that knowledge was related with treatment compliance
