Summary:Twenty four male rats, strain Wistar, 3 months old body weight + 150 g were used as experimental animals to study the protective effects of garlic on the incidence of cardiovascular diseases due to atherogenic ration. The rats were randomly allotted into 4 groups of six each. Before treatments, the rats were adapted for 7 days and fed basal ration. After adaptation, the blood pressure was measured and 3 ml of blood samples were collected for glutathione peroxidase, cholesterol and triglyceride analyses and the rats were then fed the treated ration as follows: group 1/control (atherogenic ration)
