description ABSTRACT This study deals with the relationship between mobility behaviour and socio-economic structures of rural households of two villages of West Java. Indonesia. By using the education, occupation of household heads, landholding and economic index of households, it is found that movers from relatively developed villages are drawn from full spectrum of the socio-economic status group of households, while from the less developed villages they tend to come disproportionately from the better off households. This result suggests that the selective mechanism of the migration process tend to be reduced as the level of development increase. Kata Kunci: mobility behaviour - household structures
