An attempt has been made here to highlight the soda-economic, housing environment, dietary habits, hygiene pattern, food and nutrition intake pattern of Scheduled Caster population of the sample villages which are selected from Uttarakhand Himalaya. With the h4 of secondary data general characteristics of the Scheduled Castes population in eight hill districts of Uttar Pradesh are also discussed in the paper. The study shows the nutrition status of the people which is fir below from the standard requirement due to the lack of knowledge and incentives provided by the society and agencies. The study suggests that there is an urgent need to increase the awareness among the lower castes population.
