A survey was carried out in the villages Caturtunggal and So. rosutan, suburbs of Yogyakarta, to observe individual's perceptions of social change process (crowded schools), his concern about this change and comparisons of his responses with the scores on the Hamilton psychiatric rating scale for depression. 13.3% of the respondents in the ego villages were suffering from depression and frustration is the prominent behavior of respondents facing their problems in sending their children to schools.
