| Summary: | The pattern of spatial development in the Special Province of Yogyakarta is shaped by two central points: the peak of Merapi and the city of Yogyakarta. The nearer to the city the bigger the potential of area development and hence the bigger it creates hidrological pressure. On the other hand, the further from the city (the closer to the peak of Merapi) the bigger the capacity of the area to serve of water recharge area. Spatial management in the province should rely on this pattern.
